Should The Government Give The Taxpayers 700 Billion Instead Of The Bad Bankers 700 Billion To Put Us In Debt?
how about the government distribute 700 billion to the working class that’s been giving them money all along, that sounds like a good economic stimulus package if you ask me, we’ll pay our bills off!!!!!
(I’m sure those fat greedy bankers have no bills no more cause they stole hundreds of billions of dollars and are living fat and rich now cause of it!)

No
Why would they give it to the people who need it?
That is not what this country is about.
The workers who lost their jobs walked off with nothing.
The CEO’s who caused the collapse to begin with are walking off with multi million dollar golden parachutes.
Do you think these bonus’s will last forever?
They won’t.
The one’s with nothing are use to it.
The CEO’s have a lifestyle they need to keep up.
Let’s keep it just the way it has been going for the last 8 years.
All for the top few and nothing for the bottom many.

Given $2,333 in the hands of every American will do nothing for the economy, except maybe benefit McDonald’s and increase obesity. Putting more of a burden on our health care system.
Even if the govenrment do that, you would get actually get almost nothing since the top 20% pay 80% of the taxes, they would be entitled to their fair share first. 32% of that would go to the top 1% wage earners.
The current plan will at least give the government away to get some, if not most of the money back.
The fact is, the average American is stupid and too selfish to spend the money in a way that would benefit the economy.
If $700 billion is going to be spent to provide economic stability, targeting spending is the only way to make it work.

you are right in more ways than one -The American family (banks call us consumers) are the root of the problem with overstretched budgets that is why loan defaults are way up and banks who should have extended better terms to its customers or limited the size of loans given -this bailout will increase the demand on those already stretched budgets and it will make a lot more americans poor -this is not a sane solution and nobody should take this money - if anything the federal reserve should do every thing it can to provide liquidity - get level 3 assets out in the open -and change banking regulation where a bank isnt a bank if it happens to be overleveraged giving 90 days to make sure this all gets done -how much does it cost ? a few million. I would rather see more than just one option -and our leaders have failed to do so but if you are on the wall street sites /or economic sites there are plenty- in other words lets exhaust all options before we arrive at this one -email your senators to vote NO

They have already doled that out to the american people with your little stimulous check they sent out not long ago to stimulate the economy, it really did a great job didn’t it. It stimulated the failure of banks, savings and loans and other financial institutions. With what we have in control of our congress things will never get better because they could over look a buzzard on their dinner plate. Everyone will cry Bush has done it again, but remember it has to be approved by congress.

Because a majority of Americans would run out and buy a 62′ LCD TV instead of paying their mortgage and the working class would end up bailing them out anyway.
I wouldn’t mind a cool $10K though, that would knock down some of the credit card balances.

That is physically impossible. You can’t give us something that we are not capable of paying into the system. They could not raise taxes enough to be able to pay us all that - it would completely destroy the economy.

MM… lol.. I had started to post this exact same question earlier but decided against it… I agree.. 700 billion comes out to $2300 for every man woman and child in this country. I sure could use that right now.

Put it in the infrastructure and Green energy and watch the economy take off.

The money should be used for wind power paving the highways and other job around the country.

I think the government should keep it to pay off the debt.

I just wanted to take some time to talk to everyone about the current situation in the economy. Unfortunately, things have been taking a downturn and the President along with the Chairman of the Federal Reserve thinks its in the best interest of the country and the world to spend 700 billion of taxpayer money to bail out the American Insurance Group from bankruptcy. After the Enron scandal, and Bear Stearns, and Leahman Bros., and Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mack, it has become terribly apparent, that there is more to this than meets the eye. Me and many others believe that the upper levels of our government are trying to hustle the American people and make their friends wealthy, by eliminating the principal investment for these businesses and therefore the risks involved. This is unfortunate, because I come from the old school where you believe that the reason you make money off a business is because you take the risk of the initial investment. They are giving your money to people who would tax us to death, and outsource jobs and overcharge us for products and services if it suits them, leaving us ALL IN THE POORHOUSE. We are at a crucial time right now, with it being so close to an election where we can truly make our voices heard. If you care at all, you should write to your Representatives in the House and the Senate and tell them NO BAILOUTS FOR CORPORATE AMERICA. I understand the risks invovled and it is my believe that it is a risk that we CAN AFFORD TO TAKE. I believe that this is a time when Americans can truly prove they are willing to pay the price of freedom from tyranny, but to do that we have to be willing to take a risk. Fortune rewards the bold, and so we must be bold or they will win out in the end. Please PLEASE go to the website for the US Senate and the House of Representatives and write to your representatives, tell them you will NOT save these people who care so little for your well being. If this is OUR TIME, then this is what we must do. This can be the time that we did what our founding fathers would have done to save this country.
